Sun Cellular Philippines Has the Crappiest Service Ever

Let me share with you my second bad experience with Sun Cellular. I was not supposed to publish this blog post since I was being considerate, but since Sun Cellular management was not considerate with me, here it is.

I applied for a Sun Plan 450 on March 4 since I really, really need a postpaid phone. I went to the Sun Shop in Los Banos in the morning with some of the requirements and from there the agent and I decided on which requirement should be waived. I did not have my Certificate of Employment with me but I submitted all requirements and completed the application form. The agents said that the longest waiting time is five days. I was excited when I left the Sun Shop.

The following day Jairo, another agent, gave me a call, saying that my CoE cannot be waived. I agreed to submit it lest my application gets declined. I went to my office HR and asked them to rush a copy of my CoE. After getting my CoE, I rushed to Los Banos from my office in Makati. I got to the Sun Shop at 7:15pm. Tired and drained, I handed them the last requirement.

A week after, I was informed that the application is still pending. It was okay with me since I thought, maybe, there were too much applications at the moment. I was considerate.

A week after that, I received no calls or SMS. I was beginning to wonder why my application is taking too long. I sent the agents SMSs and gave them calls but I did not receive a single reply.

A week after that, I was informed that my application is being reviewed by the top management. They did not tell me why it had to come that far. I was pissed but I stayed calm and patiently waited for the approval of my application. I also told them that I should receive daily status reports since I was in Makati. It did not happen.

I was too busy to go to the Sun Shop every week. But come first week of April, I went back there and asked for the status. Again, they told me it was still being reviewed by the top management. I gave them an ultimatum, that if nothing happens come April 15, I’m revoking my application. I did not revoke it, instead, I faithfully waited for it.

I again called and sent them text messages but the agents did not respond. That time it has been a month and a few days since I last applied.

This afternoon, I went to the Sun Shop to again check the status of my application. Jairo couldn’t even look me in the eye so I asked another agent to check my application. She couldn’t find my application papers, and spend some five minutes searching for me in the computer. I told her to ask Jairo for help since he’s my agent. They two just made the waiting all the more longer. They searched the file folders but didn’t find my papers. Until finally, after about 10 minutes, the sales girl told me that my application was declined on March 27. Here’s the conversation:

“Sorry, Ma’am Sheenah, your application was declined on March 27,” she said

I replied with angry tone “Without informing me?! That was March 27. I gave you a call that day, and you didn’t tell me the truth! What the fuck is going on?”

“But we re-forwarded it for reconsideration, and now we’re still waiting for the feedback.”

“If I’m able to sell my other phone later, I’m revoking my application, and this time it’s for real.”

There was no point arguing with her. Sun Cellular management has kept me waiting for so long and then misinforming me, and then will keep me waiting for another lifetime. It wouldn’t matter much if I do not really NEED a postpaid phone (but I swear, you will have the same feelings as I do).

One more thing, I asked them what are the grounds for getting declined and they couldn’t answer me. My theory is that my application papers literally got stuck somewhere (since they couldn’t find it) and they need more time to find it, or to trace my information. But that’s just a theory I cannot back up.

So, okay, I’m left with no Sun postpaid phone because of Sun Cellular’s incompetence. I was not able to sell my other phone this afternoon, which means I probably have a lot of waiting to do.

I couldn’t get to the top management since it’s not allowed (as per agents) to talk to them.

They are not allowed to disclose the bounds for declining a client’ application.

Sun Shol Los Banos’s agents are utterly incompetent and ignorant.

They did not give me status updates when I asked for them.

Sun Cellular has the worst service ever. I have been to other networks and the agents are not like that. Sun Cellular sucks, really. This isn’t the first time this has happened. Please refer to my open letter about why Sun Wireless Broadband sucks.

I couldn’t get to the top management since it’s not allowed (as per agents) to talk to them. — yeah this really is not allowed as far as i can remember when i was with smart. they could have given you the address of their head office though so your concerns can be more appropriately handled.

They are not allowed to disclose the bounds for declining a client’ application. — this is definitely true since the reason may be because of the standards set by the company for applicants. they don’t disclose it so the applicant cannot find a loophole and then reapply.

Sun Shop Los Banos’s agents are utterly incompetent and ignorant. — im gonna have to agree on this. Mark’s concerns were almost handled the same way as well by the staff.

    • April 24, 2011 at 10:29 pm

Thanks for the comment, Jeff. Being declined is not what I’m so angry about (but what the heck, I am financially capable of paying my bill for 30 months or so); it irks me a lot that them agents do not know how to take care of their clients. Hindi lang ako misinformed, eh, I was not informed. Sun Cellular has a lot of restaffing to do. I hope they give PROPER trainings to their agents.

That comments box in their office is useless. Social media is more powerful, haha.

actually, the staff from LB are quite….. Yun na…
I processed my application in Sun Sta Rosa, and got approved in a timely manner, when I went to Makati to change the address, with dad, they processed timely too…

When we went to Los Banos for change of liabilities, damn, Mas mabilis pa ata ang SSS ID application sa kanila, and everytime I go there, parang gusto kong magwala.

I suggest you try to re apply sa Makati.

    • May 15, 2011 at 11:11 pm

Pwede ba mag-reapply? I didn’t get declined naman kaso panibagong processing ng papers. Ugh, katamad. I’ll stick to prepaid nalang for the time being. >.<

Yup, sa SM yun.. I have a postpaid broadband plan with them. So i tried to apply for a phoneline.. Ending? 2 months ako naghantay sa approval and with that, maraming beses hiningi ang HR number namin and been giving them all the numbers sa office kasi HR lng daw ang kulang para OK na lahat.. Then after 3 months, declined ang application without telling me the reason why! They Suck, and really, Sucks BigTime!!!

Gud day, I applied for postpaid dito sa Talisay Cebu. The next day tumawadg sabi andyan na ang unit. Kinuha ko naman. The next day pa naactivate yung SIM. sa cae ko di naman masyado hassle yung application. Ang i-watch out ko lang ngayon yung billing ko…

Good thing I found you guys!! I’ve been waiting for two weeks already for the application status of the sun Plan in E-mall Branch Cebu City. Like you, I am also excited to have a Sun Postpaid. I cling to their promise of 2-3 working days however nothing happened. I am super duper tired of waiting.!!! Now, I won’t expect and I will never ever recommend it to anyone.!!

F*cking Sun Cellular customer service…! They’re giving away hundreds, if not thousands, of new postpaid lines (and phones) every year but their Sun Shop customer service is f*cking slow. One and a half hour waiting in line, excited to get the new phone for my f*cking “loyalty” subscription and the f*cking phone is not available. Damn you, Sun Cellular! In two years, all your services will fail. I curse that!

  13. January 5, 2012 at 11:06 am

I have the same experience back in March. We applied and waited for like a lifetime. They said the same words. Re-submitted to Re-consider. But to no avail, we did not get that kind of plan we wanted. Though they gave us an option. To get the LINE-ONLY plan. It seems to me that they just don’t want to release their phones. Because when I applied for the LINE-ONLY plan, with just an ID and signature, i got my plan instantly. No if and buts. Then after 9 months, I would be able to get my Phones. Not sure though. they may require a lot of requirements again. i just hope they are true to their word this time.

sun shop in rob place manila is the same thing! I had a sun postpaid line.. I applied for a consumable plan and got an sun unlimited line. I had my brother go to the sun shop to have my plan changed to the consumable scheme and he was promised that this will be changed the following cut off.. so the next month, nothing was changed. my line was still unlimited to the network. I asked my brother to go to the shop and he was again told by the personnel that the plan will be changed the following month.. the next month, it was still the same.. and the next month.. and the next.. I have sent numerous letters to the sun shop and have spent hundreds of minutes talking to their customer support and still nothing was being done! I gave up and threw away the sim card and stopped paying.. If they cannot treat their clients fairly, then they do not deserve the patronage!

There is a Sun SHop recently opened here on SM Olongapo. I recently submit my application form for Plan 350 with a buddle with unli calls / unlitxt and 250 free sms to other network with a free Alcatel Glory 918n. I need to have this plan scheme because my wife and daughter lives on Antipolo City, by this Plan Scheme i can call everytime i want. Still hoping that my application will be granted after 48 hours.

  21. June 14, 2012 at 4:42 pm

They also told me that my approving will be last for 5 days. Im hoping that before June 20 my application will be granted. After my application decline can i fill up another application?

I found your story now because I was looking for a way to contact Sun cell. I deactivated my account with them via SM Pampanga office last Dec. 28, 2011 because I was going back home to the states after having a 2 year contract. I was told to pay all corresponding dues and have to do that in person at any of their offices,(which I had done via SM Pampanga. I was told how much I owe them and paid them in cash and was told that I should receive my refund of my deposit in a few weeks. well I left for the states last March 25th, lo and behold I still have not received my refund, worst, they are still sending me a bill for amount due after I had closed my account with them last December 28, 2011. what kind of a company is this and employee training do they give their employees on the front desks of their branches?

I’m very sorry to hear about the inconvenience… That is totally unacceptable! : ( After all the not-so-good experiences posted above, I just want to share about my previous experience w/ Sun. I tried to apply for 250 fixed load plan (postpaid) last Monday (7/16/12) here at Sun Shop Xanland in Katipunan. No requirements needed, I just showed them my PRC id and payed for P250 for the activation. The process was really fast that it just took me 15 minutes to complete everything. When I left the shop, they already gave me my postpaid sim and they assured me that it will work after 24 hours. I waited for it and was surprised that it only took 3 hours for the sim to be activated. So far so good… The signal here in Katipunan is great that’s why I’m loving the experience of havin’ a new postpaid plan w/ Sun. Might as well give them a chance this time because they have something until July 31 ( they do not need any documents, just bring your id and it’ll automatically be approved). I think this time they just did an EXCELLENT job. I just want people to know about it. I’m not Sun Cellular’s employee and I’m not paid to post this… I just felt inspired to post a comment, I was a previous customer service / technical support representative and I really know how hard people work to please customers. I’m sure the agents worked hard but there might’ve been something wrong that happened in between the events, it could be w/ the system or it could also be w/ other related factors ( I’m not sure of the other factors and I don’t have the right to judge as well..) I think this blog will also be a good driving force to further improve Sun Cellular’s manpower. For Sun Cellular, just please check the positive side of it if you’re getting bad reviews. God bless and have a great day! Let’s smile everyone. ^_^

Actually, Sun’s customer service is a total embarrassment and doesn’t have the service at all. They will deny you the right as a consumer to talk to a supervisor, their Voice response unit drops the call while waiting for the next rep, and the Agent will hung up on you when you are in the dispute part.
Sun doesn’t care about their customers. Once you signed a contract, that’s it. Service is not their game, just pay the damn monthly fees and that’s fine but if you have a request, they won’t give a damn.

Oh GOSH! I asked my mom to apply for a Plan last month. One month na kaming naghihintay up to this date, wala pa rin eh! So I’m planning to personally ask them the status tomorrow. Usad-pagong talaga. Ggrrr

  26. August 15, 2012 at 5:54 am

I applied too.. They told me someone will call me after 2 to 3 days.. 3 weeks had passed still no calls from them.. not without a single word if they will still process it or not..

I had the same experience as sheenah, I and my girlfriend applied for a P450 postpaid plan at Galleria’s Sun Shop last August 26, 2012. And after three days, my girlfriend was informed by that sun shop that her application has been approved, she did immediately ask me if I have received a call also from the sun shop but unfortunately I didn’t. That I started wondering why they haven’t called me yet, so I decided to go to that sun shop at galleria to ask them if there is a problem with my application and to ask them why they didn’t informed me regarding the status of my application. And surprisingly when we went back there last September 5, they told me that I haven’t submitted my Proof of Billing (POP), to which before we left the sun shop last August 26, it was checked by one of their CSR’s and informed me that our requirements are complete. And I am quite sure that I did attached my POP together with my other requirements. So I asked CSR to look for my application form and I’ll show to them the POP which I’ve attached, and they were so ashamed by the time they saw my POP.

After that, they told me that my application will be submitted again for verification. I was asked to wait for another three to five days which I disagreed! I told them, “I will no longer wait for another three or five god d**n days para lang sa P450 na postpaid plan na yan! I did asked them if they do have doubts regarding my requirements, I even told them to personally go to my office at Malate to conduct the verification, and immediately we left.

The next day, inulan ko ng negative feedbacks and/or comments and website nila and I did addressed the same to the top management. And only a few minutes after that, a CSR from the head office texted me that my application was currently being evaluated by them for approval, said CSR called me up also after two hours I guess asking for apology for the inconvenience in my application at galleria’s sun shop. And still, I was so mad as hell by that time. I even told him I want to be informed after 24-hours if my application will be approved or not, and fortunately, around 9:30 p.m. on that same day, one of the CSR’s at galleria’s sun shop called me up and informed me that my application has already been approved.

We need to raise our complains directly to the top management kasi kung hindi, walang mangyayari dun. Ms. Sheena and the others were right, sun cellular needs a lot of trainings for their staff, most especially sa mga walang galang at walang “alam” na mga CSR nila. Although I am using the service of the said network, it doesn’t mean na hindi na ako kikibo. By two of their CSR Regional Head sent me an email informing na kung may iba pa akong reklamo dumirekta na daw ako sa kanila. Which means, hindi umaabot sa top management or hindi pinapaalam ng mga s****d na mga staff sa mga sun shops ang mga reklamo ng mga customers/subscribers nila.

Anyways, that is what I have experienced during my application.

Good luck na lang sa akin. Thanks Jay-r for the comment. I just applied for postpaid plan sa Galeria. So far, I can say poor customer service talaga. I am a supervisor sa isang customer service deparment catering to airlines at alam ko ang meaning ng good service because I myself provide it to my clients. Anyways, here it goes. I asked the CSR for requirements and I made it clear na lahat ng mandatory requirements ay secured. Then I submitted everything. Turns out kapag umuupa ka ng apartment eh kelangan pala ng authorization letter mula sa may ari ng apartment. My concern is that i was not told about this in the first place para nasubmit ko sana. So I spoke to the owner and got authorization letter plus photocopy of ID. Tapos submit agad xempre. I went to work knowing I have completed the requirements. After a day I received an SMS saying meron na naman daw missing. They were looking for a supplementary contact person. So I replied to the SMS. Walang pasabi kung ayos na or kung narecieve. The next day, another SMS. Same issue, need to provide supplementary contact person daw but this time I need to go personally sa office nila. I’m a busy person and every second counts pero I still went there. I gave them the numbers. Turns out they were looking pala for contact persons who holds postpaid plans kahit anong network. So I gave the numbers again. I went out hoping na naman na complete na yung requirements kasi kung hindi na naman. I will personally contact my connections to bring SUNCELLULAR down!

been a subscriber for almost three years.. getting the subscription really needed a lot of patience and the sun shop branch where to pass the application must be taken into consideration for record ng customer service. have to assess the agent na kausap and courtesy is a give and take senario… pwede ung makulit and mapilit na magalang parin ang dating, kahit kunwari lng, for the purpose of application…hehe… first meeting with an agent ma-aassess na if swabe lng application or not.. tellling past experience about a failed transaction is a good way of getting the cooperation of an agent for new attempt of subscription…

    have a great day..

They shouldn’t breath a word if they can’t take it by heart. I can also relate myself to such predicament. I applied for Sun Postpaid Plan 350 last October 10, 2012. They promised to give me a call after completely assessing my application after 3-5 business days. They have my number and other contact details but it’s quite appalling that I still got no response from them for plain 2 weeks. I’m planning to visit the Sun Shop in SM Lacion and complain about the long wait. It is very inconvenient. They shouldn’t tell their customers to wait for a span of time where in the very first place they can’t keep their words. At least they have informed me or given me an update to my application via sms, e-mail and what not. Screw them.

I’m waiting for my application to be approved as well. I went to Sun Shop Baguio to follow up my application for wifi broadband bundle. The agent said she will follow up my application. I thought it’s reasonable for sun to be so slow at this time because bundled plans is a new program and I thought people will be rushing to apply. Maybe I should apply to another network.

    Consider yourself lucky, sheenah!

I have suncellular Plan350… I’ve had it since December 2010. Guess what? The sunshop asked me to pay for one month in advance. I was billed AGAIN. Also, I never had a bill of more than 700 pesos per month! Worse, I SHARE the line with someone named Evangeline Villafuerte. I receive calls and texts from credit card companies looking for her! Of course, I called up suncellular – and to no surprise, they didn’t do anything about it!

To illustrate the disaster SunCellular did to me: I received a text message that my credit card (I dont verify the credit card number given on the text assuming that my number is UNIQUE or I was given a fresh, new one) amounting to 34,000 is due. Can you imagine the late fee and the finance charge? SHOOT! I paid the amount immediately (with my correct credit card number of course)! Only to find out that it wasnt a text for me… But I already spent that much… Lucky HSBC! I paid a huge amount in ADVANCE.

Hence, consider yourself LUCKY. And no… dont ever go for SunCellular Plan.

DAVAO CITY SUN SHOP? They need training on Customer Service. STUPID AIR HEADS…

    hi everyone,

i was just browsing the net to check if there are others na galit then sa customer service na pinoprovide ng sun cellular and the service itself. i started as post paid user last year. ok lang yung delayed ang approval, i understand dahil dami ang nag-apply that time and the phone that i am using is ok naman for one whole year
i dont have a problem but what makes me angry is what happened recently. a call center agent called me up and offered me their pocket wifi service. so after the sales talk i agreed kasi nga ok naman ang nakukuha kung service from them but i asked if ang place namin sa mandaue city cebu is ok ba ang signal. she answered ok naman. when i received the pocket wifi i had to wait for 5 days to have it activated tapos when it was activated na it didnt work at all so i had to bring the device sa sun shop j center mall. sabi, the device needs to be configured. it was configured that night but still it didnt work. i received the sales call jan 17, 2013. i received the device jan 21 and had it configured on the 22nd. since then the service was so crappy that even to open up my yahoo mail it would tell me na the connection is slow and if i going to check FB pictures are not displayed and for movie streamming mauubos ang pasensiya mo sa buffering. so on the 17 of feb. i went back to sun shop in j center mall mandaue i ask them if i can cancel the plan kasi i will be paying for something na hindi naman nagwowork. i was told that they are improving their system and that it was a known issue in the area and that i cant cancel pocket wifi plan because i now have a contract. but the contract is an agreement that you pay this in exchange of the service that they should be providing but i havent receive any service at all. i ended up using my globe tattoo stick na prepaid.they offered me a reversal instead. so i provided the dates that i dont have service so that they can provide me the reversal that they are offering. dahil sa galit ko i havent paid my feb invoice and i was waiting for this month’s bill (which unitl now i havent received as i have enrolled to their online billing kasi i havent received any paperbills din from sun so opted for online billing nalang) but to my surprise my service was cut off. so i went to sun shop ayala and paid the feb invoice and asked the cashier if there are any adjustments for the reversal but she said ang ginawa ng sun shop advisor last feb 17 was just a memo not really the reversal request. feeling ko sasabok ako sa galit.so bumalik ako sa sun shop j center and ask why the reversal request wasnt processed and the only reason i got is they have to know as to when daw talaga ok na ang service but for the mean time to have my services again is to pay my bill— bill na hindi ko naman na-eenjoy (except sa phone service ko).i was thinking na hindi ko bayaran ang bill. i am working in a call center and our client is a telecom company abroad din. if the customers would have their account cancelled w/in the first month they can cancel it w/out penalizing the customer for early termination charges pero sa sun they dont care. to them you suck the charges even if they are not giving you the reliable, fast service they are bragging in their commercial. i am still contemplating whether or not to pay the march bill. GRRRRRRR!!!!!

The same thing happened to me. Nag apply ako for plan 999.. It’s been like 5 days pero wala parin. sabi nla 3-4 days ang approval. So nag follow-up ako the next day, sabi nla pending pa. And they didn’t even sent me a text na pending pa pala. 9th day na bukas, and still no text or call. THE FUCK WITH YOUR SERVICE SUN!!! The required gross income para sa plan 999 is only 20k. And IT CLEARLY STATED NA 26k yung sakin. AND I DON’T HAVE ANY FREAKING dependents.. Mas inuuna pa nla yung gumagamit ng credit card..

Hmm, been waiting for my sun postpaid application for almost a week now. Reading the previous comments, I have doubts in the process of my application @ SM Novaliches Sun shop. I called their customer service earlier and said that there hasn’t been any applications forwarded to them. I submitted every requirement needed, ITR, SSS and PRC ID, COE, 2 months payslip and a PLDT bill. I was assured that the processing time is 3-5 working business days. My office mate had a good experience. (maybe because he has a credit card) and sun offered him 2 mobile postpaid plans too. If they told me I need to pay in advance, I could have done that. Plan 350 is no big deal haha. Just want to have a new no. and avoid the hassles of looking for a store that sells prepaid loads/cards. Until now, no updates whatsoever. So much for the time spent completing the requirements and everything.

All sun services are shit. My business needed a internet so I opt for sun pocket wifi since its only 899. I didnt mind globes and pldt internet coz I thought they will charge me a business plan price if its for business. So I applied for a pocket wifi.. I cash out the devics to avoid hassles on the requirement.. after using it for how many weeks, suddenly disconnected. So iwasnt able to use it for one week. Went there and complained.. they said they subscribed my number in the wrong plan.. “THEY” are in fault not mine! So I asked them to waive that one week of no internet connectivity! Weeks came, I recvd my statement again, still the same.. I went there and complained. They said it is still under investigation. Months passed by, until my pocket wifi is not functioning. Went to sun shop again asking if I can have it repaired or what.. because whats the use of the sim if my pocket wifi is not functioning. Now the gay staff pissed me off! “Sir we can do nothing on your device, I suggest u to buy nlng sa cdrking” I was like wtf! I threathened him that I will terminate the plan just to scare him coz I think every branch they need customers for their quota. Ok he didnt care. The next day I went there again and terminated it. And I asked for refund since I wasnt able to use the one week that has been disconnected nor it has been waive. They said they will refund it thru cheque. I agree. Went there again the next day asking my refund status they said it need to take months. So im fine with it since im now with globe broadband sweat free service! Today, I got a statement again from sun! Went there and told them I already terminated my plan! That fucking lazy bitches told me it wasnt terminated coz I have asked them to investigate the complain im having. I wasnt informed by the staff last time that my contract will not be termianted because I have a complaint that is open. Im expecting for an refund.. but they asked me to pay the fucking remaining bill if I want to cut it off and my complain will also be close. Stupid services with stupid people. I asked them why do your company need to investigate my complain that they already found out the problem and its not my fault, its theirs, they subscribed my account on a wrong subscription. They said they need to dig deeper investigation if its really true that I was disconnected. Stupid! I wish they will have a bad business and close soon! Their internet speed was only 1/8 of globes internet though. I was ok with that. But atleast I need to expect a good service!

Now i understand why after 6 days of waiting wala pa din notification about my plan application… i won’t expect anymore.
