Sun Cellular Philippines Has the Crappiest Service Ever

Let me share with you my second bad experience with Sun Cellular. I was not supposed to publish this blog post since I was being considerate, but since Sun Cellular management was not considerate with me, here it is.

I applied for a Sun Plan 450 on March 4 since I really, really need a postpaid phone. I went to the Sun Shop in Los Banos in the morning with some of the requirements and from there the agent and I decided on which requirement should be waived. I did not have my Certificate of Employment with me but I submitted all requirements and completed the application form. The agents said that the longest waiting time is five days. I was excited when I left the Sun Shop.

The following day Jairo, another agent, gave me a call, saying that my CoE cannot be waived. I agreed to submit it lest my application gets declined. I went to my office HR and asked them to rush a copy of my CoE. After getting my CoE, I rushed to Los Banos from my office in Makati. I got to the Sun Shop at 7:15pm. Tired and drained, I handed them the last requirement.

A week after, I was informed that the application is still pending. It was okay with me since I thought, maybe, there were too much applications at the moment. I was considerate.

A week after that, I received no calls or SMS. I was beginning to wonder why my application is taking too long. I sent the agents SMSs and gave them calls but I did not receive a single reply.

A week after that, I was informed that my application is being reviewed by the top management. They did not tell me why it had to come that far. I was pissed but I stayed calm and patiently waited for the approval of my application. I also told them that I should receive daily status reports since I was in Makati. It did not happen.

I was too busy to go to the Sun Shop every week. But come first week of April, I went back there and asked for the status. Again, they told me it was still being reviewed by the top management. I gave them an ultimatum, that if nothing happens come April 15, I’m revoking my application. I did not revoke it, instead, I faithfully waited for it.

I again called and sent them text messages but the agents did not respond. That time it has been a month and a few days since I last applied.

This afternoon, I went to the Sun Shop to again check the status of my application. Jairo couldn’t even look me in the eye so I asked another agent to check my application. She couldn’t find my application papers, and spend some five minutes searching for me in the computer. I told her to ask Jairo for help since he’s my agent. They two just made the waiting all the more longer. They searched the file folders but didn’t find my papers. Until finally, after about 10 minutes, the sales girl told me that my application was declined on March 27. Here’s the conversation:

“Sorry, Ma’am Sheenah, your application was declined on March 27,” she said

I replied with angry tone “Without informing me?! That was March 27. I gave you a call that day, and you didn’t tell me the truth! What the fuck is going on?”

“But we re-forwarded it for reconsideration, and now we’re still waiting for the feedback.”

“If I’m able to sell my other phone later, I’m revoking my application, and this time it’s for real.”

There was no point arguing with her. Sun Cellular management has kept me waiting for so long and then misinforming me, and then will keep me waiting for another lifetime. It wouldn’t matter much if I do not really NEED a postpaid phone (but I swear, you will have the same feelings as I do).

One more thing, I asked them what are the grounds for getting declined and they couldn’t answer me. My theory is that my application papers literally got stuck somewhere (since they couldn’t find it) and they need more time to find it, or to trace my information. But that’s just a theory I cannot back up.

So, okay, I’m left with no Sun postpaid phone because of Sun Cellular’s incompetence. I was not able to sell my other phone this afternoon, which means I probably have a lot of waiting to do.

I couldn’t get to the top management since it’s not allowed (as per agents) to talk to them.

They are not allowed to disclose the bounds for declining a client’ application.

Sun Shol Los Banos’s agents are utterly incompetent and ignorant.

They did not give me status updates when I asked for them.

Sun Cellular has the worst service ever. I have been to other networks and the agents are not like that. Sun Cellular sucks, really. This isn’t the first time this has happened. Please refer to my open letter about why Sun Wireless Broadband sucks.

I couldn’t get to the top management since it’s not allowed (as per agents) to talk to them. — yeah this really is not allowed as far as i can remember when i was with smart. they could have given you the address of their head office though so your concerns can be more appropriately handled.

They are not allowed to disclose the bounds for declining a client’ application. — this is definitely true since the reason may be because of the standards set by the company for applicants. they don’t disclose it so the applicant cannot find a loophole and then reapply.

Sun Shop Los Banos’s agents are utterly incompetent and ignorant. — im gonna have to agree on this. Mark’s concerns were almost handled the same way as well by the staff.

Thanks for the comment, Jeff. Being declined is not what I’m so angry about (but what the heck, I am financially capable of paying my bill for 30 months or so); it irks me a lot that them agents do not know how to take care of their clients. Hindi lang ako misinformed, eh, I was not informed. Sun Cellular has a lot of restaffing to do. I hope they give PROPER trainings to their agents.

That comments box in their office is useless. Social media is more powerful, haha.

actually, the staff from LB are quite….. Yun na…
I processed my application in Sun Sta Rosa, and got approved in a timely manner, when I went to Makati to change the address, with dad, they processed timely too…

When we went to Los Banos for change of liabilities, damn, Mas mabilis pa ata ang SSS ID application sa kanila, and everytime I go there, parang gusto kong magwala.

I suggest you try to re apply sa Makati.

Pwede ba mag-reapply? I didn’t get declined naman kaso panibagong processing ng papers. Ugh, katamad. I’ll stick to prepaid nalang for the time being. >.<

As much as possible, I’d like to use prepaid. I didn’t know nga lang that you can use a usb stick with a wireless router. Kasi naman tsk. Me commitments nga, you pay regularly but the service sux. Gah

Yup, sa SM yun.. I have a postpaid broadband plan with them. So i tried to apply for a phoneline.. Ending? 2 months ako naghantay sa approval and with that, maraming beses hiningi ang HR number namin and been giving them all the numbers sa office kasi HR lng daw ang kulang para OK na lahat.. Then after 3 months, declined ang application without telling me the reason why! They Suck, and really, Sucks BigTime!!!

good thing i saw this blog… rytnow we r still waiting in vain for the result of our application at sun shop market-market.. its almost 1 month.. one of the staff there was also incompetent! we gave her all requirements but she insisted that birth cert and meralco bill are not needed so she did not photocopy them.. so we left the shop thinking that everything’s ok den after 3days we got a text informing us that we still need to pass the birth cert and bill… what’s up with that incompetent agent? she mislead us.. we ended up going back to sun shop all the way from batangas where we work… we applied at market since it is nearer to where we live. it sucks talking to a staff who doesnt know that everyones time is gold!!!

Gud day, I applied for postpaid dito sa Talisay Cebu. The next day tumawadg sabi andyan na ang unit. Kinuha ko naman. The next day pa naactivate yung SIM. sa cae ko di naman masyado hassle yung application. Good thing I found you guys!! I’ve been waiting for two weeks already for the application status of the sun Plan in E-mall Branch Cebu City. Like you, I am also excited to have a Sun Postpaid. I cling to their promise of 2-3 working days however nothing happened. I am super duper tired of waiting.!!! Now, I won’t expect and I will never ever recommend it to anyone.!!

F*cking Sun Cellular customer service…! They’re giving away hundreds, if not thousands, of new postpaid lines (and phones) every year but their Sun Shop customer service is f*cking slow. One and a half hour waiting in line, excited to get the new phone for my f*cking “loyalty” subscription and the f*cking phone is not available. Damn you, Sun Cellular! In two years, all your services will fail. I curse that!

ME TOO…1 MONTH WAITING FOR MY APPLICATION SM NORTH EDSA……..=((

  13. January 5, 2012 at 11:06 am

I have the same experience back in March. We applied and waited for like a lifetime. They said the same words. Re-submitted to Re-consider. But to no avail, we did not get that kind of plan we wanted. Though they gave us an option. To get the LINE-ONLY plan. It seems to me that they just don’t want to release their phones. Because when I applied for the LINE-ONLY plan, with just an ID and signature, i got my plan instantly. No if and buts. Then after 9 months, I would be able to get my Phones. Not sure though. they may require a lot of requirements again. i just hope they are true to their word this time.

– f*q sun cellular

sun shop in rob place manila is the same thing! I had a sun postpaid line.. I applied for a consumable plan and got an sun unlimited line. I had my brother go to the sun shop to have my plan changed to the consumable scheme and he was promised that this will be changed the following cut off.. so the next month, nothing was changed. my line was still unlimited to the network. I asked my brother to go to the shop and he was again told by the personnel that the plan will be changed the following month.. the next month, it was still the same.. and the next month.. and the next.. I have sent numerous letters to the sun shop and have spent hundreds of minutes talking to their customer support and still nothing was being done! I gave up and threw away the sim card and stopped paying.. If they cannot treat their clients fairly, then they do not deserve the patronage!
