Filipino Time at Its Best
April 30, 2008
Who would have thought that I’d be able to submit entries in a photo contest which closed at April 30, 2008 5PM?
I was not aware that Turismo Los Banos organized a photo contest until Edellaine, a high school classmate, told me. She said she read about a photo contest sponsored by Informatics. I asked her how she knew about it, and she pointed at the tarpaulin behind us. I read. Deadline of submission of entries is on April 30 at 5PM.
I thought it would be possible to rush an entry since I was a former summer student at Informatics. Without a doubt, I rushed to Informatics to inquire, and BEG to consider my entries. The Informatics girl said I cannot submit my entries tomorrow because the organizers will be getting the entries anytime now. But she did a little encouragement and said “malay mo late sila, kasi hanggang 8PM pa naman kami dito.” So I quickly thought of a way to get my photos and have them printed in the quickest way possible. I first thought of going home and getting the high-resolution images. I went out of the mall and nonchalantly crossed the street, when the big man in yellow yelled at me “MISS HINDI PA PWEDE TUMAWID!” He didn’t really strike me, my only thought that time was to rush home. I knew it was humiliating but I didn’t mind.
I took a jeepney and handed the driver some coins. The jeep was not moving, and I remembered that I have the photos in my Multiply! I got of the jeepney even though I have already paid my fare.
I went to the print shop and downloaded three photos. I texted my sister, who’s home, to tell Informatics that I will be submitting in ten minutes. I waited anxiously for the prints to finish. After getting all three photos, I literally ran across the street and hailed another jeepney back to the mall. The traffic was heavy so I just decided to sprint my way to Informatics.
I just got on time. The lady said the entries have not yet been pulled out of their office. Thank goodness for Filipino time. I filled out three entry forms, signed each, then submitted them. They were literally a product of my sweat. Didn’t I say I was wearing a bright red dress?
So here they are, my photo entries for Images of Los Banos:
1. Kwek Kwek Tower

2. National Arts Center

3. The Enchanted Lake

I am not expecting to bag any prize, but I’d be totally happy if I do. These images are now owned by Turismo Los Banos (as signed in the contract).
So what might have happened if there was no Filipino time? I wouldn’t have submitted my FINEST entries.
The Obligatory Introduction

Yet another weblog. I have finally pursued my WordPress account after realizing that my weblog should be independent, and not just another link in a community site.
Welcome to Sheenahism. Where blogging is a religion.
